Yes I couldn’t play a SACD via my DAC. I had a LG Bluray player and that outputted CD at 44.1 to my DAC. Not all players sound the same though as although it was very good, my Oppo UDP203 is definitely better via the same DAC.

I don’t have a preamp and my system sounds great but then I expect my DAC is also much better as is the way it implements vol control. It’s an overpriced European model though.

I’ve never heard much difference. My digital is balanced, vinyl not, both sound great. The Naim pre is likely to be a weak spot though.

Yes, drivers are the higher spec ones. But I own SCM40A’s and they sound utterly fabulous. From what I can gather, the 20A’s are more revealing and therefore might not suit everyone.
