1972-1975 - some shiny Sansui thing - not bad in hindsight
1975-1977 - some Aiwa thing - much less good
1977-1981 - Harrison/Chapman integrated - not bad - yet to meet anyone else who has ever heard of it
1981-1986 - Naim nac12/snaps/bolt top 250 (best Naim ever made)
1986-2004 - varying quantities of more and more expensive and harsher and harsher Naim black boxes, with decreasing satisfaction levels
2004-present day - discovered the joys of Dynavector and no longer have the itch to look elsewhere; currently L300 and HX1.2

Hey Wazza!

That's hard to say, as I had the Naim system in my previous house with different speakers. I can only say that the Exposure sounds very good indeed. I think the main difference is that where the Naim system sounds very energetic, the Exposure sounds a little more natural. It's not slow or too warm, just a little more fresh and sparkling, wheras I would describe the Naim as pure energy. Does that make sense? Another point is that the Exposure seems a less fussy about placement and stuff. Just turn it on and play and it sounds good. In essence I don't find it a downgrade, although moneywise it is.

Regards, Bas

late 70's - Random Onkyo receiver. Way better than any 8 year old should have. Dad (a Linn guy for life) got me rolling.

late 80's - NAD 7240PE receiver. Still have it. I often go back to it in between upgrades. Right now it's my headphone amp and FM tuner. Was a phono stage for awhile. Was in service for nearly 20 years, went with me to college, first apartment, grad school, into marraige... (paired with some Polk 7's which I just gave away)

then we get rolling into a series of obsessive upgrades and short-term auditions for the last four years. All second hand purchases.

NAD 742 A/V Receiver -- lasted about a week. My first of three attempts into "multi-channel". Total dog.

NAD 320bee --- not a whole lot better than the 7240pe, maybe worse. I felt it was too dry at the time (but I eventually land on Rega)

Arcam a65+ --- really really nice, but not a keeper, as the multi-channel bug hit again. I miss this one sometimes.

Arcam AVR200 --- another dog. Little did I know, at the time, that it was the same basic dog as the NAD 742.

Arcam AV50 --- paired it with a Denon SACD/DVDA player with analog multi-outs, ran as a 4.0 system. Actually really nice. Maybe the sweetest sounding system I owned. But only with the SACD's in 4 channel. So thus we move on... firmly in two-channel...

Rotel RA1060 -- the only Rotel. Could not get into this one at all. Sounded like a Bose.

Rega Mira -- lovely amp. Not enough power, but lovely. I stay with Rega from here...

Rega Cursa/Maia -- getting better

Rega Cursa/Exons -- haven't upgraded for a year.... but the Naim Nait XS beckons.... or maybe that new Elicit. I like integrateds.

I see a trend....

..lots of stuff...
... buys a Naim Nait of some vintage...
.... moved to Naim Pre/Power combos....
..... upgrades Naim Amp....
...... upgrades with Naim power supply.....
....... sells it all and goes to non-Naim integrated, never to return to Naim....

hey, that's my story, sorta. all in all, though, i should have kept the nait 1 (my first naim) for the den. but then again the sugden A21 takes care of that. ;)

I wonder why? (wink)

I followed that trend I still have my Avondaled 42.5 ,NAP 250 combo but presently using MC2 650 as an integrated amp.Bit of a no brainer really as the MC2 cost roughly a third of what the Naim would.
