Yet ANOTHER JVC amp - JVC A-X7

flatpopely

Prog Rock/Moderator
Just bought one for £21.
One channel down so it may be scrap or may be a simple fix!
Very rare item so I hope I can get it working.

Not told SWMBO as quite correctly she's going to ask why I need another amplifier. Always had a hankering for the A-X7/9, that's why.

I hooked up the JVC AX-3 I have last week and it is very good indeed. Very clear sounding with no faults I could detect. Not quite the emotion conveyed by it big brother, but could easily live with it. Think I might build up a collection because when people find out how good they are prices will go sky high :)

This is the first A-X7 I’ve seen for sale in the UK!

Very rare.

I’m looking forward to refurbishing it and it sounding ace.

Had an A-X7 many years ago. Drove the Leak 2075s I had at the time beautifully and I still sometimes wish I’d kept it.

A true bargain there flatpopely if it's an easy fix! I'd be very interested to read how it fares against the AX-Z1010TN.

Nice find, I've only seen an AX-9 for sale once, never a 7. I wouldn't be supprised to hear that it out performs the amplifier section of the 1010.

Once it’s picked up I’ll take loads of pics and give it a good clean.
Hopefully I can fix it.

I’m not sure it’s got the legs to beat the Z1010 into SARAs but will be interesting.

Stay tuned.

So Ive go it. Doesn't turn on as the fuse is blown.
It's not bad for 30 years old. The quality of the controls is really superb. Solid aluminum, as is the flap that hides them. Inside it's not as robust as the Z1010TN but not too shabby either.
Once I get home I'll fit a new fuse and start from there...........

Thanks.

I'm rather chuffed - just hope I can fix it!

So now I have....

A-X1010TN - Mint - main system
A-X3 - Mint - office system
A-X3 - Poor but working - spare
A-X7 - Ex but not working - destined for office or home (2nd system)

I need to stop!

The A X9 looks very much like the 1010! Big traffo and parallel power transistors. Even the back panel is the same colour!
They go for mad money though.
