Recapping of Nytech CPA 602

Are you using two different boards for the poweramps?

Yes, in the NERO SA-1 there will be

- Two Toroids with 120VA
- Two "PiggyBack" Trafos for 81V VAS Supply
- A Dual Channel PSU
- Two PA Boards ...

Will be a complete mono designed Stereo Amplifier based on Mr. Hay's ideas ...

Hopefully he won't kill me ;)

No further tips to improve the PSU? No ideas how to improve the PSU for the CPA602('s) ?????

PSU PCB will go into Production on Wednesday ....

Very dissapointing Feedback .....:confused::confused::confused::mad:

Nice work Ingo. For those that don't know, I sold the CXA to Ingo earlier this year, after having had it lying around for 10 years or so. It's moved house about 6 times.

I'm no specialist in PSUs Ingo but how about a Cap6 or similar, as used by Avondale? These use 6 x electrolytic capacitors to smooth the AC off the bridge rectifier, I'm not sure if they then have some on board regulation.

Your CXA252 is still working. I recapped the X-Overboard with Elna Silmic 2 ...

Sounds good:)

The Layout for the new CPA 602s PCB is finished:

It's more or less the same Layout as in the original 602's.

To replace TR3 as used in the ION/NEXUS the Layout will be changed a little bit, and the TR3 will be moved to the heatsink.

Comments and improvement suggestions are warmly welcome ....

Can somebody give me a tip how to mirror the board with Eagle?

PCB's will be produced in 105µm copper in black and chemical aurum surface.

A PSU-PCB with a regulated supply for the regulated 81V is also finished.

As promised .....

Thursday evening we will start with soldering .... Hopefully there is a difference in the sound;-)

As promised, here is an update of my NERO PSU for the Nytech CPA 602 ....

Beside it looks really good, at least for me, it seems, that there is very stable supply of ~ 75V. The regulated result is not what I expected ... But we can improve.

See here some pics ...

First, it fits also into the original NYTECH CPA602 box ...

Some deeper look to the PSU

And here a picture from the available scop from my iPhone ... Sorry for the poor quality. As I understood, the signal looks really really good ...

Now I need a beer ....:D

Hi,

First time I've looked at this thread. Congratulations on developing a whole replacement amp single handed. It wasn't until I read the whole thread that I realized the amp has only one Supply rail and capacitor output coupling. I guess this gives a more compact design. Your PCB design looks impressive. And your physical layout.

I guess you're bolting heatsinks to the outside of the chassis.

The design is outside of most pfmer's experience, and the Olympics are on. That probably accounts for the lack of posts. Bump the thread again after they're over.

Thanks David,

yes, outside left and right there will be heatsinks. They are 350mm x 61 x 10mm. I'll post pictures when they are finished.

Yes, hopefully more experts will step in because i want to develope mono amps based on the existing one. Each ampwith 60-80W based on Ideas Nytech used, with best components you can get and maybe improved circiuts.

I like the idea ....

It might be an idea to ask the moderators to rehash the thread to pick out your stuff with a better title. Your work is a little more than a re cap. As before I hope this all comes to a nice sounding result.

Good Idea :)

What do you think is a good title?

After I asked the Moderator he moved the thread already to the D.I.Y.-Area ....
